Events scheduled for 2020
Lecture – January 22, 2020 – 7:00 PM – Old Town Hall in Ocean View – Happy New Year! We are kicking off the new year with a lecture by Dr. Kimberly Grimes, the chairperson of our Coastal Towns Museum and a longtime Board member. Kimberly is an anthropologist by trade, and will be speaking to us about Fenwick Island – its origins, its history, its people, and its culture. Author of the book Barefoot in Fenwick Island (sold on this website), she has been a lifelong summer resident and is now fulltime. She will share her memories, as well as those of her grandparents, mother, and friends, and will explain the survival and progress of the island known as Fenwick. Cost is $5 for non members and free for members. Memberships for 2020 will be available for $25 single or $45 family. Refreshments will be provided.
Dine and Donate – Come and join fellow supporters of the Coastal Towns Historic Village in Ocean View at FIN’S in Bethany (Sea Colony Marketplace) from 4:30-7:00 on January 9, 2020. A portion of the proceeds for this evening will be donated to OVHS.
Coastal Towns Chicken Festival – Saturday, June 20, 2020 – Noon-5:30 – John T. West Park in Ocean View – The Coastal Towns Historic Village and the Town of Ocean View is planning a county-wide event reminiscent of the Delmarva Chicken Festival, a celebration of “everything chicken.” Our historic village has an exact replica of Cecile Steele’s first chicken house and all of the village buildings will be open for tours.! There will be food (chicken!), games, music, prizes for special chicken related events, educational displays, and industry giveaways. Any questions or suggestions should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Coastal Towns Historic Village will be open each Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 from May 27 through August 26. If you or your group would like to visit another time, contact Barbara at 302-593-8814 to arrange a date and time.
The annual Historical House Tour will be October 10, 2020 and will take place in Bethany Beach. More information will be available in the summer, but mark your calendars now!
