Events scheduled for 2019

Lecture by Gordon Wood – April 3, 2019 – 7:00 PM – Old Town Hall – 32 West Avenue

Former Ocean View Mayor and history advocate, Gordon E. Wood, will describe the Baltimore Hundred before tourists, giving insight into Southeastern Sussex County prior to automobiles and construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Gordon Wood is the author of 3 books and has researched the family trees of early settlers, especially the Evans, Dazey/Daisey, Hall, and Green families. The Lecture is FREE for current Society Members and $5 for others. Light refreshments will be served, and FREE parking is available in the Ocean View Town lots around the John T. West Town Park.

Garden Tea Party – Wednesday, May 8, 2019 – 42 West Avenue

Wear your finest hat and enjoy the garden at Barbara Slavin’s 1800’s house in Ocean View. We will have lovely sandwiches, tea biscuits, and sweets to be accompanied by several selections of teas. Call 302-593-8814 to register.

Summer Open Houses – Wednesdays from 1:00-3:00

Starting on Wednesday, June 5 and ending on Wednesday, August 28, the entire Coastal Towns Village will be open to visitors and members to enjoy the stories of yesteryear.

2019 Historic House Tour – Saturday, October 12, 2019 – 10:00 AM-4:00 PM

Our third Historic House Tour will feature homes from South Bethany this year. Enjoy visiting houses that were built in South Bethany after the opening of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in the 1950’s. Tickets will go on sale in August.

Annual Christmas Open House – Saturday December 7, 2019 – 1:00 – 4:00 – Historic Complex at 39 Central Avenue

Visit our decorated Complex and enjoy special sweets and beverages as the residents of Ocean View would have in the 1800’s. A special treat this year will include a chance to see the new Coastal Towns Museum at 40 West Avenue.
